- What is the wheel chair and stroller accessibility at Tropical Fruit World?
-

-
We grow more than 500 fruit varieties on the farm, which have been collected from every continent and many different altitudes across the Globe. When grown here in the sub-tropics they can crop somewhat unpredictably. And of course, as farmers, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and rainfall.
While we guarantee that you'll see loads of fruit varieties all year 'round, sometimes it's hard to predict exactly which ones at what time. Also, some varieties may only have a short harvest window, and we try to prioritise these exclusive exotics in our fruit tasting sessions, with the remaining harvest offered at our fruit market, but these varieties tend to sell out very quickly!
To get a general idea, You can view our fruits in season calendar here.
- Can we pick the fruit ourselves when we visit?
-
Where possible (when a seasonal crop is plentiful)
you may be invited to sample some fresh fruit from our orchard trees while on
your Plantation Safari guided tractor tour.
During the tour you will see specimen trees from our collection of more
than 500 fruit varieties. Unlike say, a strawberry farm which offers acres and
acres of one seasonal crop, our fruit harvest is sometimes very precious and
often somewhat rare. So we provide an
opportunity to taste our fruits in season during our fruit tasting
sessions. Purchase of a Farm Tour
Admission ticket is required to access the plantation. - Do you use chemicals in your farming practices?
-
Tropical Fruit World is a Fresh Care certified farm. This certification underscores our dedication to avoiding harmful chemicals. Achieving this certification involves regular testing of our irrigation water and conducting MRL (Maximum Residue Limit) testing of our fruit. These processes ensure that no toxic chemicals are found in our fresh produce.
At Tropical Fruit World, we cultivate a variety of fruits from all over the world. Most of these plants thrive with minimal intervention, relying mainly on compost and fertilisers to bolster soil health and tree growth, which naturally reduces pest and disease issues.
In our commercial orchards, we adopt sustainable biological horticulture techniques. This approach focuses on preventative treatments based on regular observations for pest and fungal control. When treatments are necessary, our staff applies them carefully and sparingly, prioritising plant health and optimal fruit production for your enjoyment.
Despite our minimal intervention farming approach, we ensure that all our fruit and leaf products — available online or in our retail gift market — undergo a meticulous two-step washing process before they are processed for retail in our farm production facility. - Do I need to pre-book my tour before arriving?
