Custard Apples: Natures Creamy Delight is Back in Season!
What Makes Custard Apples So Special?
Custard Apples are a mix of cherimoya and sugar apples and are PACKED with a natural sweetness and velvety texture that melts in your mouth. The green, knobbly skin hides a lush, fragrant flesh with hints of banana, pineapple and vanilla – making them one of the most indulgent tropical fruits.
Beyond their unique flavours, custard apples are the powerhouse of nutrition. The fruit is rich in vitamin C, fibre, and essential minerals like magnesium and potassium. Plus, they’re naturally low in fat, making them a guilt free treat to enjoy all season long.
Mood Enhancement: Custard apples are rich in vitamin B6, which plays a crucial role in the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. These neurotransmitters help regulate mood and can potentially reduce the risk of depression
Hosting the Custard Apples Association Australia & Our Exciting New Variety
A few months ago, we had the honour of hosting the Custard Apples Association (CAA) at Tropical Fruit World. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry experts, share insights about growing techniques, and celebrate the incredible versatility of this fruit. Events like these highlight the importance of custard apples in Australian agriculture and strengthen our commitment to growing and innovating with this beloved fruit.
Speaking of innovation, we have been invited by CAA to trial the growth of a newly developed pink and red custard apple at Tropical Fruit World. Part of the work of CAA is partnering with QDAFF, Hort Innovation Australia and private farmers like ourselves to develop what is the future of Custard Apple farming in Australia. Visitors over the next few years will see these trial trees come to "fruition" where we will be doing tastings and recipe development with the fruit for all to try.
